Maria Mørk is a half Norwegian and half Russian musician based in Berlin. She spent her childhood in between three cities; Oslo, Moscow and New York, and she has always been inspired by traveling, the absence of stability, and her love for the big city. She is a classically trained musician, and has her education from Moscow Central Music School where she studied to be a pianist, but never finished, as her true love was elsewhere. The Norwegian meaning of her name is “dark”, and this contrast between happy and sad reflects in her personality, as well as her music as she combines hopeful, positive melodies with nostalgic and often, sad lyrics. Maria will be playing shows with her band this summer, before releasing her second EP – Happy Music For Sad People.
